If I were part of a 1% or .1%, I'd probably be making the same argument. "The 1%" is just a simplification for the benefactors of gross income and wealth inequality.

Obviously old and feature-full libraries aren't going to benefit much from type-hinting. More than anything, I see it as a way to encourage new projects to re-think how they design their APIs - i.e. keeping it simple. That huge polymor

I fail to see the significance of this, other than a shift in what sort of self-help books are sold. Are there any widespread pedagogic or management practices that are built on top of ego depletion?

I wish there was a way to "pause" incoming requests in web servers. Most deployments (migrations + code) take less than a few seconds, and I'd be fine with some users having to wait 2 seconds for a request to finish over thei

Some of these are a bit dubious. "Are you using a bundler?" If yes: "try not using a bundler." If no: "try using a bundler." Same for flux/redux.

I was hoping for an intelligible article about how despite PHP being a nice language these days, most of the work regarding it is old code from before best practices were applied, or cleaning up after cheap, awful programmers... Alas, that

Completely agree with you in regards to Debian packaging. I googled around and found at least 5 different official guides (on the debian wiki) all using slightly different approaches. I tried 3 of them before giving up, as none of them seem

I won't disagree when it comes to authentication and admin interface, but test suites (pytest), an ORM (SQLAlchemy), and migrations (Alembic) are not very hard to set up. Furthermore, you can use them in other non-frameworked projects.

Maybe a less hyperbolic, over the top, subtly smug article for the discussion to revolve around? If you, as a writer, want someone to focus on a particular topic, you should generally avoid distracting your readers with ridiculous statement

From a quick glance, this list claims CSS is front-end, mixes browser javascript frameworks with backend frameworks, mentions Ruby as a framework, lists outdated frameworks like CodeIgniter, doesn't include Vagrant under local dev envi

I've never read the Rosario github thread before, but it seems fairly obvious to me that this is a troll - or at least, I'm uncertain enough about its legitimacy to not use it as a prime example of SJWs threatening open source con

I'm a fan. Chronograf looks like an interesting alternative to Grafana - but it's not open source :( Kapacitor looks neat as well, though it's going up against stiff competition from Bosun.

Working with classes in ES6 is such a relief. My only complaint is that if you save a method as a variable or pass it to another function, it'll just be a function with its own scope (`this` won't reference the class instance, but
