I can relate, but considering how much we exploit animals, including agricultural animals, breeding, raising and killing animals for food, using rats and monkeys for testing etc., this would not surface in the priority list for fighting ani

There is a visceral pleasure in the "bigness" of it. The roar of 4 engines, how it stood far above all the smaller jets, like you are in a semi truck in the middle of the road surrounded by compact sedans. More economical planes a

It does. That's why I bumped the orders to 200. Despite selling more, the restaurants are making less. Of course these are random numbers that came to mind, but this is my understanding of the issue.

> "consumer advocacy and anti-monopoly are practically the opposite thing." Only true in the short term. Long term, monopoly prevents competition and is bad for consumers.

No, they don't. What a certain symbol glorifies or does not glorify is not something you can measure objectively. It is an intersubjective reality. i.e, if enough people believe that pyramids glorify slavery, then it does! At the momen

It makes sense right? It's so ridiculous to see Biden and Bernie battle it out in "Stage 1", and then only one of them gets to go against Trump. Instead of Biden, Bernie and Trump and everyone else just run together in a race

Disappointed to not see any mention of ranked choice voting. I think the winner takes all system leads to a two-party duopoly and makes it difficult for intermediate positions to win. P.S: Yes, I know Australia has ranked choice and they al

I think large companies definitely have a lot to gain by building good software designed to last, and the best companies do place value in doing things right (I worked in a couple of monopolistic giants). Especially infrastructure has to be

I suspect you are an outlier. Amazon takes ~50% of online shopping market share [1]. Admittedly it is lower than I thought. I expected it to be closer to 70%. Google for search is actually at 71% [2]. Either way, I think 50% is enough marke

This has been discussed in threads below, but the jist of the issue is that Amazon is pretty much a monopoly as an online product discovery service. If they put their own products at the top, people will end up with no way of discovering ot
