How do you know that? I don't disagree that many projects are futile. But it is usually only apparent in hindsight, and humans are very good at justifying their own jobs and by extension, their team's jobs.

I think you are describing all big tech companies. But what's the solution? I think it's just a result of having a large org. 20% of the org delivers 80% of the value. But when risk appetite is high and the company can afford to t

Thing is, everyone's value system is different. What is busy work for one person can be satisfying for someone else. So the bottom line is to do work which you derive value from. If you are working on a team of 100 people working on a

This is such a gross simplification. First, even people who you follow might post both wanted and unwanted content, and the platform will be more useful if it can somehow show me the things I want to see. Second, it overlooks content creato

Wow, that's eye-opening as an Android user and helps to put the anti-tracking initiative into strategic perspective. Apple is leveraging user trust to claim that it's ok for them to track users, not not ok for anyone else.

It's hard to draw the boundary. We could say that AI should only be given access to exactly the same information that humans have access to. But AI will have magnitudes more memory and compute resources. So for example, an AI could onl

What you are saying doesn't make sense UNLESS there is a monopoly. Let's say it costs Ford $10k to manufacture the car. Let's say their average profit per car is $2k, and the dealership gets $1k on average - which means that

Why would a fixed, online price end up being higher on average than what someone paid after haggling at a dealership. If anything, it should be lower because of (1) Reduced overhead, and (2) It is more closer to a free-market due to more tr

Didn't mean to discount communication issues. They are definitely a blocker for growth and impact. The best engineers I worked with had these issues, but worked on them and improved over time to increase their impact.

If by 10x, you mean engineers that add 10x more value compared to an average engineer in the team, then from working 10+ years in the industry, it is abundantly clear to me that 10x programmers exist, and a good team is likely to have 5-10%

I think that will be extremely unfair to the manager who is just acting on stupid company policies. Managers have a very difficult job of walking a tight rope. Why single out one person and ruin their career?
