Personally, I mostly enjoy cyoa types of text based games. My favorite it Warsim: The Realm of Aslona which is more simulation focused then most text based adventure games. Multi user dungeons are also fun! I'm working on one right now

If someone is looking for a renderer that also has tools for game development in Python. Panda3D is another good choice. It has a task and event system along with multiplayer and physics.

Tangential but I do wonder how much it's actually going to cost to use these systems once the investor money gets turned off and they want a return on investment. Given that the systems are only getting bigger it can't be cheap.

There's still fun hacker spaces out there. The Playdate community is a really fun space because it's mostly non commercial and people just making stuff for the love of it. [0] The raspberry pi community is also in the hacker space

I don't think it's the same technology but the Playdate [0] has a very reflective screen without a back light. I belive the screen is made by Sharp. [0] https://play.date/
