It makes figuring out what happened much harder. When 3 people in a row make some small change to a comment or log output, I'd like to just see those 3 rather than follow both sides of a merge and walk the tree endlessly only to realize I'v

It generally only applies to people sharing branches with others, whether they be master, feature, or other types of branches.

> if you have upwards of 20 or so developers constantly doing a pull without a rebase Or 2 developers; it's still just as annoying. As long as you and the other developer are working at the same time you'll have almost as many merges.

Yeah, but there's a big difference between shutting off my Twitter access and literally removing me from the land I live on.

A completely stupid thing for Twitter to do, like writing a post about their 12 hours of downtime ending in rollback by 1. starting the post with 5 paragraphs and a list of all the virtues of Twitter's engineering 2. spin the fact that, aft

What does any of that have to do with the question? This is a performance question. I'll accept readability/simplicity as an afterthought, but if you answer in this manner you've missed the (quite clear) point of the question.

AeroFS is also server-less, though you can run your own servers.

And you get to keep using the up arrow to go to your previous command. Not as cool as zsh's push-line, though: http://www.cs.elte.hu/zsh-manual/zsh_14.html

Well, yes. Nobody is going to write a post titled "C beats Ruby" with reasonable implementations of both. If you make a post in the other direction, it's often the case that you did something horribly wrong.

Yahoo! paid $30 mil and, in exchange, got 3 people working for them. Not all the money made its way into those people's hands, but from Y!'s perspective I think the summary is fair.

I don't think anyone is concerned about the CPU overhead. (Also, let's not talk about measuring things without defining exactly what was measured. On a blank page I'm sure your JS runs great.) How does it affect network performance? If I cl

I assume when you put the JS on the page, it tracks everything. Later, you define "symbols" and that gives you "retroactive" analysis.

HipChat's API's are severely lacking. There's no way to read messages from chat without using their halfway working XMPP implementation on a separate user account. On the other hand, sending and receiving messages to IRC is pretty simple an

Can I instead be in 4) whatever [0] As a user of Google Reader since too long ago to remember, I'm annoyed that I have to find an alternative but it also shouldn't be sparking a discussion about high-level, long-term Google strategy. [0]:

You can override the .equals() for your subtype but look at the check: if (n.divide(root).equals(root)) { It never calls root.equals(). It calls .equals() on the result of the .divide(), which is a standard java.math.BigInteger.

Yes. My issue is that the unkindness towards this particular company (EA) comes in the form of a philosophical argument about why DRM is fundamentally broken.

EA is also actively working on making things less bad by provisioning more hardware and disabling "non-critical" features. DRM is DRM. People only get angry when things don't work, with the occasional philosophical argument thrown in to pro
