iPhones got thicker before Ive left. MacBook Airs got their first big refresh while Ive was still there and they were thicker. They just reached a useful minimum, I don't think it has anything to do with Ive.

This shouldn't be surprising. That Epic was willing to risk iOS distribution for all this should've made it obvious iOS was not the primary source of revenue. They know the risks.

Another reply said "censor" which implies speech, but Apple's rejections can be more fundamental. Have an app you want to ship? Apple gets to decide whether you meet "minimum functionality requirements". You cannot

I think they are understaffed. I know for Swift on Windows, there is exactly one person driving that effort last I checked. The Swift Linux team might have 2-3 people. And knowing Apple, that might not be 100% of their time.

Did Apple ever support GNUStep or make an attempt for ObjC to work on Linux in this millenium? Because they do have people focused on maintaining Swift support for Linux. So it's a bit different.

You're forgetting about the Pro Display XDR. They want to make sure their 6k display is supported across their entire lineup. Even the M1 Air supports it.

Similar situation here, we had our child in our early 20s, mid-university. It was tough for sure, and delayed both our schooling and our careers (mine was impacted more), and finances were tight sometimes, but it increasingly looks like it

Trudeau gave an uncommonly genuine apology about it. If he had dug in his heels and cried about "cancel culture" I imagine public sentiment would've been a lot different.

We'll see it in legacy code for a long time, sure, but there's every indication that all new Apple frameworks are being written in Swift. Anyone starting a new project in Objective-C is in the minority.
