As far as I know the cost to the health system succeeds the tax income by far. At least in Germany.

I remember reading a study done in the UK that said the exact opposite. 70% of people going cold-turkey were able to quit for good. They compared it to the number of people quitting using helping substitutes (like patches, ecigs and whatnot

I quit smoking 7 years ago and helped a dozen people to quit as well. NONE of the people I know who used e-cigarettes were able to quit for good. Here's my recipe: 1. Quitting sounds hard but it isn't. The majority of people who t

My little brother is a fire fighter. He tells me it's involuntary. At a certain point the heat and smoke get so intense that you can't do anything but jump. He's seen his trained collegues do it.

In Germany it's all paper and actual people doing the counting. I know Germany is not as big as the US, but it's not a small country. We usually have the first results at 6pm on voting day and the final results usually don't

Gitlab has a really great set of features and I appreciate the open and professional development style very much. It's very resource-hungry, though. At one point I just gave up and switched to Gogs. Less features, sure, but very fast,

One important thing (if you haven't done so) is document very little thing that's going on in a way that an outsider can immediately understand what's going on and what's important. Worst case scenario, your shop can con

So pretty much what we did, when we didn't have fast internet. One bloke downloads the stuff (like I downloaded a pirated game from a BBS split over 3 nights) and then hands it out to his buddies.

The video and "how does it work" don't really explain much, I think. They claim to protect meta-data because everything is behin Tor hidden services. To receive actual mail, though, they set up a central SMPT/Tor-Proxy.

Depending on what your trade is, you often need prototypes of things that do stuff. Before Arduino is usually cost thousands of dollars to make these (only counting the hardware cost). Arduino drove that price down to a fraction. It's

They have a testing team that gives their porters (or the in-house porters of the game dev) qualified feedback.

Check out Vivaldi. It uses Chromes blink engine and packs lots of nice features. My subjective impression is that it's also faster and consumes less memory.
