Interesting idea, and indeed there are a lot of parallels between writing arguments and writing programs. But the title gives me pause, because the acts feel so very different. A gigantic difference is that, in an essay, your idea can sti

You are introducing an additional variable that doesn't make any sense to include. Even if mobility is greater now than it was (something of which I am skeptical), the fact remains that the top quintile is still only ever 20% of the popula

It's a neat project, technically. But... "If one turned on one's anger light in a fit of frustration, it was useful as a reminder later in the day to remain angry." I'm all for finding healthy ways to express anger, but actively holding on

Ruby has such wonderful evangelists that somewhere along the line I had gotten the idea that all Rails projects had 100% test coverage, and refactoring was a matter of course. It's kind of a relief to hear that not only do not all projects

You seem to be accusing the man of ignoring "obvious" issues to push an agenda to calm people, but I don't think that's fair. 1) The CPI is controversial, but so is every proposed system to replace it. For the moment, the CPI is the gold

It's pretty obvious why apple didn't go this route. This design takes the macbook pro away from the realm of Ive's relentless minimalism and instead conjures up images of early 90's blocky cell phones.

There is already too little competition in carriers (and telecoms in general). Even completely ignoring the document, I can't imagine who thought public good would have been served by allowing such a merger.

Did you read your own chart? It clearly shows that tax revenues as a percentage of GDP vary a lot. Between 1942 and today, it ranges from ~14% to ~21%. I don't know if you're aware of this, but 7% of GDP represents over a trillion dollars.
