The decades-old solution for that is to not mix the business and IO code in the first place. If you do, that's entirely on you. This works exactly the same and has the same goals as in popular OOP architectural patterns like Clean Arch

Yeah, that's how I used to do, and it was quite simple. I actually had much much more trouble with things like Recurly (whose API and packages are absolute garbage, IMO) and even Stripe than with the simpler gateways. The only problems

Bullshit. “Misses several features” doesn’t mean “misses all features ever invented”. What an absurd interpretation. There are several languages in between Go and C++ that suffer from neither problem of having too much or too little.

Who cares if it’s cheap and tiring, it’s the truth. When it was missing generica, saying so was also called a “cheap shot”. There’s plenty of proposals of thing that can be improved in this thread alone. Not every post has to contain them t

I personally do. At my company we recently finished adding types to some libraries that were a core part of our system but were deemed "untypeable" by the maintainers of the libraries themselves (we're contributing back), and

That was a generic argument, but still a valid one. Go is a language that indeed misses several features, including safety features, that help people perform their job better, and their excuses for that aren't exactly well thought. It

Did you read the first paragraph? I’m talking about a Twitch streamer. People aren’t “paying for relationships”, they’re subscribing to get rid of ads and support the streamer, even though some expect a bit more. The streamer won’t reciproc

I really hate Sony. I had a Sony Bravia TV for several years, and bought it because it came with a "Netflix compatible" sticker. Netflix however wasn't really compatible from the get-go, and they promised it would work in the

True. We probably need a law for that too. The movie still exists. The license should just be transferred to another platform, or DRM should be removed so you don't need the platform to see it anymore. If companies fail to comply with

I use my 8GB one for development (mostly web and Cocoa, but also some 3d stuff w/Metal) and the only issues are with things like Microsoft Teams or some other memory hog, but even my co-workers with 32GB machines suffer with those, so

I said it in my reply. Rust/Cargo. Amusingly, I'm using Cargo and CC for a large C++ project I have. It's unholy and certainly wrong, but works beautifully and is not as bad as every other C++ build tool I have to use.

It does matter to the customer of course, like I said, fraud is wrong. But in practice it doesn't matter: even with a real chat, it's still one people getting their hopes up and another not caring and only doing it for the money.

In practice, yes. It would be the same end result for both: one person not caring and the other caring too much. But you're right: the parasocial relationship makes it different, and it is indeed fraud. If a friend did that to me I wou
