They've been doing this for decades. What was that app they had in the 2000s? You used to install it into your computer and had some sort of megaphone icon in the app tray and would alert you whenever anyone was talking about Israel o

This is really awesome to have these live maps. The map layout could be improved a bit to highlight the larger offenders. I imagine there are a large number of these facilities where the flare has gone out and they are just venting methane

You are conflating two separate things. We all know the code and development direction in teams is lacking. This is one problem. Microsoft scrambling around COVID times with Teams had more to do with the load / demand / capturing

Disagree. ComicChat was a great product, and a great way to introduce non-tech people to IRC.

Yes, but this discussion goes deeper though. Their attitude of non-compliance with pro-consumer regulations starts to be seen as selfish. Right now Apple has a positive brand image. These actions have the ability to tarnish their reputation

They are referring to SIM locks. ATT locks the sim to the phone so it can't be transferred if you got a subsidised phone from them. All depends on if someone set this flag when creating your SIM and if you took their discount when buy

esim allows me to provision my phone with a new phone number wherever I am. I don't even need to go to any location, I just need someone to send me a QR code. It is extremely helpful and a huge time saver.

Hopefully the end result is a large concerted effort to regulate Apple as a monopoly. At this point I would be fine with EU and US legislators going overboard on them.

As long as there is an affordable option to not have ads, it’s fine to make subsidized tiers for users on a budget. Although I admit this is typically the slipperiest of slopes.

What private information? All this shows is how many people with an android phone walked within some specified radius of a random address. If this were an extremely rural property, you could maybe extract something here, but inside any city

I think it’s lots of reasons. I recently switched to iPhone because I couldn’t find an android I liked. Galaxy has uninstallable Facebook apps (dealbreaker), Pixel camera was underwhelming.. and couldn’t find anything else I liked.

In the same vein, the term "single pain of glass" has always rubbed me the wrong way. It's just a fancy way to say, don't use other dashboards, use ours.

You’d have to constantly power an LCD display. With an e-ink device you could create something that only needs to be recharged 1-2 times a year, or that is passively charged off your WiFi.

I hate to be the one to inform you that manufacturing issues exist and cables can be damaged through regular use. Water bridging a connection and the connector being broken are indistinguishable to the device.

It’s just using the water in your body as an antenna. You can see the same effect by holding the car remote to a water bottle. You’ll notice the water bottle gives you about the same extended range as your head.
