Which is why I wrote the second part: Drag them in for x days, get them to work with existing staff on existing problems. If you have engaged staff, they will weed out the (clue|use)ful and reject the time-wasters.

As noted in another reply to this question, get them to bring in a project and explain it. Additionally, they could spend some time with the team they'd be working in, pairing (or whatever) with other members and really demonstrating their

Interview stress and normal workday stress are completely different beasts, in my experience. Coping with one is not always an indicator of the ability to deal with the other.

Never under-estimate the ability of a stressful situation to completely decimate your ability to perform as hoped, regardless of programming ability.

Nice idea, and I'm eager to use it day to day, but one small quibble: It would be nice if the setting allowed me to set the language - you currently set the language based on the location, right? Assuming the language of the land is my pref

I use pay-pal or debit card, if I actually buy something online. Credit-card culture isn't so great where I live, and I personally don't have one - hence the question.

I'm pleased that gccgo provides support for architectures outside of x86 and ARM, this is good news.

Seriously? A down-vote because I ask a question about payment options? Unbelievable.

So, the only payment option is via credit-card.. And if you have no credit card what then? Am I S.O.L?

I had a lovely morning (2am-4.30) rebooting about 50 boxes by hand. All wearing some shade of java.

Excellent - another internet cock-fight, with both sides managing to act like total cocks.. What would be better is for both sides to fix their code: Crockford to fix minify for the edge cases like this (result: better, more robust code equ

Interesting.. I've been trying to get friends to conduct this experiment, and - albeit with a ridiculously low sample size - we've had 100% failure so far.

Ah yes, the old "perform it only on localhost" benchmark. Those pesky networks, they're just bottlenecks for a webserver. I'd take this benchmark more seriously if it was a little bit less artificial. (edit: for grammar)
