My 2 cents: I would get rid of it, it's kinda jarring and distracting.

Just noticed: not sure if intentional, but with the CRT effect, I see a sort of moving line every few seconds or so. I don't recall my CRT monitor doing that, haha! But the tiny dots are spot on for me. The better a CRT monitor was, th

I grew up in Bulgaria and when Windows XP was released almost everyone had a CRT monitor. As a former Windows XP user: this is amazingly detailed and well done! The CRT effect is spot on for me.

The opposite can also happen (where the whole thing goes white).

All of those other things you listed, while important, are second and third-order side effects that are harder to control directly. I need a tool that helps with problem-solving and product development, and works reliably and effectively ac

Cursive, Calva, and CIDER are all excellent and very well-supported options. What are you missing specifically?

I agree. Swift is quite good. I assume the tooling is catching up to Objective-C. It has been a couple of years since I had to solve something with Swift. Any reason, apart from outside requirements, to pick the .NET CLR over the JVM as a r

That has always been one of Clojure's main strengths (async & concurrency). With the new JVM VirtualThreads, things are looking better than ever. The transition of core.async specifically to VirtualThreads is still WIP as far as I

I just saw a small 3D demo running at 120fps+ that some of the newer JVM vector APIs supposedly enable. Link to demo @ timestamp: https://youtu.be/UVsevEdYSwI?t=653 My experience with 3D graphics is minimal, but I'm cu

That’s a common misconception. JVM toolchain is way better than the hellscape that are most other language ecosystems. Maven, for example, works reliably and is rock-solid. The only unsolved problem is if you get two libraries/framewor

Reliability was such a huge wild card! I would say Ferrari, in their post-2000 domination, were the first team to make reliability not a factor, for the most part. M Schumacher still holds the record for most consecutive podium finishes, 19

The V10s from around 2000 were arguably the best sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqaJKTRs-Kg But that 1985 car control is insane!

Haha, the higher-end LLMs are not absolutely terrible. In my experience, LLMs in their current form are better at explaining code than creating it. Not perfect by any stretch in either task. Balancing parens is still a challenge.

I think "created" is generally considered to be implemented :). I also discuss performance, so I think implementation is definitely strongly implied.

So many concepts conflated in that article, I start to wonder if an LLM genius was involved in its creation.

How about empirical instead of objective? I think objective vs subjective can be a false dichotomy in terms of quality. For example, when my phone connects to WiFi as soon as I get home every time, correctly, for the last many years, that&#

This "rebuttal" is a mix of subtle ad hominem attacks and strawman arguments. Not recommended.
