Ok, clj-throwaway : ) . First, I have to say that I'm not a Clojure contributor, and haven't contributed a line of code. I am "just" a Clojure user. Clojure by itself is already pretty good. Nothing is perfect of course.

If you're going to make statements like that, you should point names or at least specific cases. I would say, yes, Clojure is pretty much governed by the benevolent dictator model. Is that bad? What is the alternative? Design-by-commit

To answer some of the people in the thread that have asked why you might want to choose a lisp, here's an answer. I have chosen a lisp (Clojure) because: - Clojure allows me to write code that is robust, fast, and simple - because it&#

I applaud the author(s) for working on something so ambitious. A concurrency question: How does the issue of lost updates get handled when two separate threads/co-routines/et al try to modify the same piece of data?

This opinion is a self-referential indirect critique of our society and system as whole since we all collectively elect/choose our leaders.

Yes. At best we're the better evil. Our government is driven by money - the military industrial complex , big pharmaceuticals, private interest. All stuff that Lawrence Lessig talks about. Just look at our political debates. All of the

This is so on point. A prime example of the hypocrisy of western governments. Until we have leaders that truly do what they claim to believe, we deserve everything that comes upon us.

The article articulates both sides of the argument. Reasoning from chemistry/physics principles, there shouldn't be anything fundamentally "non-malleable" in our brains. Scientifically, we are probably relatively far fro

What do you think is not quite right about errors in tranducers? When you use them with core.async channels you can supply an optional exception handler, which is quite nice. In terms IDEs, Cursive for IntelliJ is great, and it gives almost

I think the author is mixing two separate issues - data (HTML, JSON, database records, etc) and the tools to manipulate it (languages). IMHO, we need simplicity and clarity in our data structures, APIs, JSONs and powerful (but simple, still

When I was a kid I had a number of Lego Technic sets - they are great! Might not be proper "engineering" but still allows you to touch and build a simplified version of many real-world things, for example a car's drive shaft.

That's an extensive list of databases, most of them I hadn't heard of, even though I am pretty interested in this topic. I would add Datomic to that list. A few months ago I was also hacking on an immutable, time series database o

Nice high level overview of container security via SELinux - anyone interested in running containers should read this. We are exploring different operating systems for running containers and CoreOS seems like a good candidate.

This is great, huge thumbs up to all the people involved in this effort. We use ClojureScript on the web and we love every second of it, I'm sure the experience on Android will be the same, especially with the reduced startup time.
