I have to say that Docker used to be very annoying to work with on Mac OS X but with the latest release of Docker Toolbox it has a much better "works out of the box" experience. The article is pretty ranty but I can agree with the

With the risk of sounding bitter, I am truly not, I always wondered why does it take close to 300M and 400 employees according to Crunchbase to build a note taking app, even at scale.

From my perspective, the three distinguishing features of Clojure from other languages/Lisps in general are: 1. It's a lisp, which means homoiconic, i.e. build software just like Lego (different from non-lisps) 2. Immutability and

This was the first presentation by Rich Hickey I watched about two years ago and since then I've been using almost exclusively Clojure. http://www.infoq.com/presentations/Are-We-There-Yet-Rich-Hic... I'd say

I love this website! When I was hacking on a key value database it was invaluable for learning about B+ trees and other data structures suitable for indexing.

I agree, especially the newest 328i with its 4 cylinder engine that sounds like a motorboat :). Tbe previous generation is way better.

Can't help it but make the comparison between the iPhone and the 3 series. Both are at the same time a status symbol, and best-in-class utility machines with exquisite design. The 3 series has been around for much, much longer though.

You are absolutely right. However, if you use a cluttered language with a dozen choices for a data structure or concurrency (as far as I know Ruby is not one of them), you'll run into many accidental problems before you even get to sol

I'll offer myself a shameless plug here. We've been using Clojure/ClojureScript for my current startup cloudmonkey.io and we absolutely love it.

Maybe for some companies/use cases, however my feeling is that the setup time and dealing with hardware directly will always be too much hassle for the majority.

I see a lot of people disagreeing with the overall direction of "less servers, more services". I totally get it, I used to be one of those people, but I think the shift to "less hassle development" is inevitable. 5 years

This is one of my favorite ideas. It sounds great in theory, and I'd love for it to be tried somewhere. Just as a note, I'm pretty libertarian leaning, but that idea is, I think, the best compromise between pure libertarianism and

What if you type hint everything in Clojure properly so all reflection is avoided? (does take some time, but with something like YourKit it'll be only a few hours max on a mid-size project)

I used to do a lot of PHP, and I love Clojure (all my work for the past year has been Clojure only), so I totally get where the author is coming from. Comparing Clojure and PHP is not even fair, whether we're talking performance, concu

This is a great example of "simple is better than easy". It always seems so easy to "just make a callback" in JavaScript/UIs but when things go beyond a very simple UI component things go downhill, FAST. This sort o
