Sir, with all due respect, we've reached the limits of core internet protocols. The internet is a different beast than it was in the past, and to maximize the experience and capabilities of the internet, we need to look further. Proto

1) Nowhere is a private key exposed in the process. I do not know how you came to this conclusion after reading the paper and the code. 2) Namebase definitely makes things easier, but you can absolutely claim your airdropped coins locally

This is exactly the concern that the GooSig private airdrop addresses. Nobody has any obligation to claim their coins, and even if they do, it will be private and nobody will know. This is unlike Bitcoin forks or ERC-20 airdrops, because it

Great question. The design notes paper [1] does an excellent job explaining this: ## Financial Contributors and Pricing - 7.5% A total of $10,200,00 USD have been allocated to purchasers to price the initial value of the coins for 7.5% of

DNS tlds as they exist today are in centralized control by ICANN, a California public benefit corporation. Recently, activity originating from ICANN including removing price caps on .org [1] and the .org billion dollar sale [2] have brough

Anyone participating in the GooSig airdrop [1] can technically register names anonymously as their keys will not be exposed in terms of having received the coins. Additionally, anyone who can obtain HNS anonymously can thus register anonymo

Additionally to combat squatting, to register a name, one needs to go thru a Vickrey auction and bid on a name after it is released. Bidding continues for about 5 days thereafter and there are 10 days to reveal the bids. The winner pays the

Fred Wilson said it was the end of a 2 year crypto winter [1] and I tend to agree. With JPMorgan merging Quorum and ConsenSys, and Google announcing support for Hashgraph [2], I'm optimistic about the widespread adoption of distribute

It will absolutely diverge, although it’s probable that ICANN will likely continue to mirror the Handshake Naming System on their end.

Handshake isn’t parallel, but instead, it’s a drop in replacement for ICANN that is controlled by the people. All existing TLDs continue to function as they did prior.

Switching away from ICANN will have a larger effect than a petition. If you don’t support centralized authority over the DNS root, you can vote with your computer for a new DNS root controlled by the commons [1]. [1] https://www.

Exactly. The protocol era was hijacked for profit. I believe that incentivized, decentralized protocols are the evolution of all of this and will bring the protocol era back AND properly incentivizes participants.
