It has been quite forcefully tested throughout the year. It has barely showed any weakness yet we have been hearing USDT is on the brink for years now. The story is getting old. Like a permabear seeing financial doom behind every corner.

No it is not. If USDT has survived till now it is unlikely to fall.

Because like Zuck said, Twitter was a clown car. Engineering could build good stuff. The management and board was however one clown after another.

That is what I said. It is for people who want an echo chamber. > I mean seriously, what if twitter turned out to be a bad idea? Twitter fills a void where there is no real alternative. How can it be a bad idea? If you are morally oppose

These exoduses 9 times out of 10 only create some insular single topic community. For people who want to participate in an echo chamber. Anyone who thinks Mastodon has any hope of being the next Twitter is delusional. It is the next Parler&

How well does CockroachDB run in practice, how much babysitting does it need? I am sure there are a bunch of people with experience running large clusters doing a high amount of transactions here.

Covering parking lots requires a scaffolding structure to hold the panels. The cost of this structure is probably higher than the panels. A much better plan would be mandating all large building roofs to be covered by panels unless unsuitab

Well I had a major project for which Rust was the only logical choice. I very quickly found Rust to just be very enjoyable to use. So even if something is in the Eralng/Elixir wheelhouse I would still prefer Rust. I do not use an actor

No they are building in the US because the US told them they have to. TSMC is the biggest chip Taiwan has to convince the US to defend it from Chinese invasion. The most advanced fabs and the most capacity will definitely remain in Taiwan.

A different data point. In the November HN hiring thread, Rust has more mentions than C++.

I wonder how much C++ is being learned by new generations of programmers. I suspect Rust is taking over there but that is a completely baseless assumption on my part.

I don't understand your point. Google says Chinese manufacturing jobs pay $11k per year in 2020. This is a salary level of a south/east European factory worker.

Your point is very strange. Apple did not just suddenly decide in 2018 to manufacture in China. It is what they have been doing for like 10-15 years before that. If you count from iPod on. In mid 2000s it certainly was not an option to manu
