In my early 20s I played an MMO called Asherons Call. I discovered a vendor in one high level area that would sell bows for less than a specific vendor in a low level area would buy them, netting you a small margin per bow. Being a programm

It sounds kind of funny to say “this should be in a config, not in code, but here’s a config language that lets you code your config”. Regardless, I don’t think Dhali was around at the time Quirks.cpp was created. Funny story, my first expo

I’m not sure whether or not what you’re saying about jaw scientists (that a thing?) thinking they knew everything is true, but regardless, the fact that we are able to adapt to new discoveries and discuss them seems positive, not negative.

Yeah I don’t mean to give megacorps a free pass either. I just think it’s in our nature to collectively ruin most things that start out great… and like you say, blame everyone else.

I dunno. I’m no libertarian, but we should still take some reasonable level of responsibility as parents. I’d be fine with some negative PR resulting in big warning labels. Like power tools you’d have to be an idiot to let your young childr

I’m of the (unpopular?) opinion that users ruined the internet, and not megacorps. For example is google crappy now because they just don’t care or is it really all the “content marketing” that did it? I suspect any forum that gains signifi

While I’m sure there’s some portion of developers who are ready to jump to google and Facebook tools right away, I doubt it’s a majority. There have been a lot of misses from these companies. Some big wins for sure, but it’s definitely not

Sounds like an unsustainable business model. Why should we care? Set the rules / laws that are good for society at large and let them figure out how to make a profit or fail IMO. When it comes to big tech I keep seeing people try to so

This is concerning. We were considering a move to DO from Huroku to save quite a few $, but I’m thinking AWS now. I dislike the convoluted mess of a UI that AWS presents, but this happening would be way worse.

I’ll add that m1 macs have been a shit show for external monitor support (ymmv but google it and you’ll find thousand page long support issues). It’s either rocket science to get monitors to work flawlessly or it’s the B team working on it.
