Sounds like an unsustainable business model. Why should we care? Set the rules / laws that are good for society at large and let them figure out how to make a profit or fail IMO. When it comes to big tech I keep seeing people try to solve their problems for them. We should just legislate. If they can’t make it work someone else will fill the gaps.
