I guess we just disagree on if the euro makes sense as a reserve currency. It’s too volatile for my taste. It observably performs poorly during times of panic. Almost all global trade is conducted in dollars. Inflation is much worse in the

I stand corrected. I had my dates wrong. And had not realized the recent gains the euro has made after reaching 1:1 parity. My main point still stands though. Take a look at the historic volatility: https://www.macrotrends.net&#x

Why would you want the euro to grow in prominence? The euro is an extremely young currency which lost almost 1/3 of its value against the USD over the past two years. …at a time when the dollar saw the worst inflation in 40 years!

What a bunch of non statements. They’re just designing another tablet UI and renaming everything. Instead of applications, virtual desktops, and launchers we have “flows, modules, and spaces” It’d be cool to see more natural language suppor

The US spends the majority of its budget on social welfare programs. Gun violence is a tiny fraction of death/injury here. You’re much more likely to die in a car accident.

The majority of comments I read/hear about openAI are horrible takes. It makes me believe most of the people haven’t taken the time to evaluate the output of these LLMs. Programmers aren’t going anywhere. ChatGPT doesn’t “understand” t

The blowback about googles response is unreasonable. Everyone is making some wild assumptions about gpt-based search. We don’t even know yet if it’s fit to replace a search engine. Why not wait for a moment and see what unfolds? ChatGPT has

The leverage had not been exhausted. Gas flows had been reduced, and the possibility of restoring full gas flows is the bargaining chip Russia had to offer to the EU. This was why Germany was hesitant to impose full sanctions requested by t

Neither of the two sources you linked claim that Russia destroyed those pipelines. Play out the game theory here. Russia has nothing to gain and lots of leverage to lose by destroying the pipelines. They can just keep the gas flows off FFS!

You think Russia tried to send a message by……destroying its own infrastructure?! It was their biggest leverage over the EU. Now it’s gone and there’s no possibility of restoring Russian gas flows to the EU. If they were gonna destroy critic

Most recycling winds up in a landfill. It’s expensive and costs energy. Sometimes we just pay china to put waste into a landfill and call it recycling. There’s also the bottle caps, the packaging, and carbon cost of shipping a MUCH heavier
