I upgraded my receiver and TV recently and it was a pleasant surprise that Apple TV remote now switches the receiver on and off automatically so the setup really requires no tech awareness to use.

Mind expanding on the b) a bit? If by that you mean writing things from scratch instead of pulling a dependency that does it already, it sounds a bit counterintuitive.

I use this a fair bit in daily work but really it's an absolute gold mine when learning a new language or framework etc. Currently learning Rust and I use it multiple times a day to learn patterns of usage for different libraries and l

What would make the best platform for building some kind of personal dashboard/radiator on an e-ink screen? I guess ideally I'd spend as little time as possible on tinkering with low-level rendering code.

Not quite that, but ramda-cli[1] which I've created solves this problem, at least for me, by offering the familiar set of functions from Ramda, and you can create pipelines with those to do operations on your data. [1]: https:/&#

FWIW, just recently wrote a go program that watches a Youtube playlist and downloads new videos to a configurable path: https://github.com/raine/ytdlwatch I use it to download videos into a Plex library.

I don't see a problem here that needs solving as bad as the article suggests. It's comforting to see something is happening and things are moving forward.

Strange, because parcel in particular is zero configuration and I have used to it build client projects running in production. No complicated webpack configuration needed.

The second point is great one. Occasionally I have to stop reading HN and leave the tab open for a day because I want to read the conversation in full instead of rereading again later trying to figure out which comments are new.

Once Oil has better documentation I'll probably give it a try. The documents outlined in "Docs I Want to Write" seem promising and are still only visible as drafts in Zulip which requires logging in.

Have recently used parcel[1] in multiple personal and work related projects to solve the same problem, and honestly, it's a joy compared to the webpack configuration hell. The key feature is that you hardly have to configure anything.
