I'm making the assumption that whoever is sharing the knowledge has valuable knowledge. Offering value for free is the definition of benevolence. I don't know the case, so yeah if it was just people without knowledge coming in and

The Simulation thing is one of the biggest pseudo-science discussions ever. What exactly would be the difference between a simulation and the "real world"? Nobody ever says anyting about that. It makes the entire question preposte

Minimizing or eliminating wasted time (scrolling, etc) is success for me. That means I spent time on something productive or relaxing or enjoyable -- all of which are wins in life.

I think people move on from the early/mid 20's vibe, aren't as interested in the glamour of going out, etc... and then all of a sudden they think "I'm old!" It's definitely a different distinct stage, like

Yup. And some will even try to discount your opinion by "assaulting the messenger", saying that you're economically privileged by being a programmer etc etc. It's very hard for people on both ends of the spectrum to ta

Cool, and thanks. I think my comment is completely reasonable and obv it started some decent discussions. Replacement is defined as "a person or thing that takes the place of another"... when a town has 100 people who are German,

What part of my proposition is unfleshed or unsupported by facts? It's not like some 100 page dissertation, it's a comment on HN. Of course you could spend weeks discussing anything in the detail it deserves.

Everything you said is factual. Colombia - great it was a drop in the bucket, they speak the same language and integrate, and it still is a big albatross on society there. US - mass European immigration meant that people needed to learn eng

Prob more dynamic and interesting day to day getting lost in another culture, compared to going to a 9-5 in some boring office and writing the same boring code. Sterile life. Good to mix it up once in awhile.
