I think the market has already realized that Amazon retail is beatable. There’s been a resurgence in stocks that were once falling like a knife because everyone thought Amazon would destroy them...among them Best Buy, Etsy, Shopify, etc.

It is definitely not overblown. Easy to do simple searches on Amazon and compare to a site that doesn’t rely on 3rd party sellers like Best Buy. If you searched “wireless headphones” the top results are all knock off airpods and other suspe

Shopping on Amazon has become like shopping on Canal Street in NYC (e.g. street lined with shops selling counterfeit goods). You never know what you’re going to get.

Medicare is notorious for being rife with fraud and waste. This ring is far from the only one. This includes mom-and-pop doctors who “upcode” certain procedure codes so that they get paid more. There’s obviously very little the govt can do

I don’t think it’s clear from the customer perspective what you really get for $1k. Sure, it’s a lot cheaper than going to school but if it means nothing to an employer than psychologically it feels like money spent rather than money invest

Truth is its a very typical salary + equity package for established cos and competitive late stage startups in Bay Area. With CoL it’s comparable to making $150k in almost every other major market outside maybe NY.

Never use Plaid. I’m guessing the apps that would apply to most on here are Venmo and Robinhood. Square Cash probably use them too.

That isn’t true. They do a lot of mining themselves. Their trouble toward end of 2018 was in part because they had so much bitcoin cash on their balance sheet made from mining on their own rigs.

This is just some random guy’s blog. Sorry but I hardly believe any entity, govt or not, could accurately map out the % of calories that come from carbs for all Americans year over year going back a few decades.

There are low glycemic fruits and high glycemic fruits...stick with the low ones. I’m on keto and will ocassionally have berries (all considered low). Avoid fruits like grapes, mangos, watermelon...etc.

Not sure where you got the stat on sugar consumption...it’s not really just sugar it’s carb consumption in general and I would be very surprised if that was trending downward at all. Vegetable oils are not good but would not say that by its

I’m on a lazy keto and never been one to crave sweets so it wasn’t that difficult for me to give it up completely. Occasionally if I’m having a rare drink I’ll make a margarita with truvia and can’t really taste any difference between it an

Time value of money discussions never take into the fact that 1) tomorrow is never guaranteed and 2) there are certain things or experiences you can buy that are more enjoyable when you’re young than when you’re old.

On the one hand, I like that incentives are aligned between educator and student. On the other hand, if you are smart and self-motivated, paying the max fee of $30k over 2 years is like taking out a 45% interest loan over the $20k prepaymen

You do realize there are millions of college students who pay $200k over 4 years to attend accredited programs that graduate with no discernible skills, right?

The first thing I thought to myself when I read this headline is that certain people are probably going to get offended by someone pointing out physiological differences between sexes.

Actually looking through Lambda school’s curriculum...besides the networking section the rest is comparable to the curriculum covered in a shorter bootcamp. Again, I probably agree with the hypothesis that the best grads of a short bootcamp

Right, but if 12 weeks was too short to get a job then how are people getting jobs...? You’re saying that the people who do get jobs would’ve gotten them had they gone through the program or not? Looks like Lambda school is 9 months now (I

I’ve found a lot of benefit from taking Piracetam or Noopept in the mornings with a daily coffee. I feel hyper-focused in a way that I don’t usually feel with just coffee alone.

I wasn’t suggesting that you did, just saying anecdotally hear a lot of gripes from mid level FAANG developers whose day to day is that, hence the point that many, but not all, developers are probably overqualified for their day to day role

I think this fits my understanding as well, though I think you could say the same thing about a lot of things e.g. don’t hire an expensive personal trainer when you can just watch YouTube videos and learn to work out on your own. For me, I

No IPO yet, but participated in a tender offer last year to sell a portion of my stock (no long working there). Employee 13 (jr role), value of 4 year grant (at time of offer) $1.05m at a “low” unicorn valuation (e.g a bit over $1b).

Replied to the other comment, but I hear too many stories from angsty mid-career FAANG developers who do little more than write a bunch of Protocol Buffers all day, every day.
