I do a powerlifting routine and sometimes work out while fasted (16+ hours). Doesn't make a difference to me to be honest but I haven't tried a 24hr or multi day fast. However, my lifts are quite sensitive to sleep patterns and i

For me IF is just a very effective means of caloric restriction with little downside (I would hesitate to call it a diet, it's just the way I eat). Skipping breakfast means I eliminate ~500 calories from my daily intake which allows m

Every time I logon to the AWS console I curse because the login is split across two pages and I have to select the correct login to autofill from my pwd manager twice.

I use the "Old Reddit Redirect" FF add on which redirects all Reddit links to old.reddit.com which still uses the nicer old UI.

There's still an ethical component with the orbiter because of the amount of money involved.

Plus, you absolutely don't need a running watch to run a marathon. That cost estimate is absurd.

It's a fashion statement first and a warm coat second. So the question "Are they worth it" is highly individual (I reside on the "hell no" side of the fence!).

Not on the diagnostic side in this case but yes, open sourcing was both to help other cancer centres manage their QC data better and operate more efficiently as well as an attempt to attract others to contribute to the project.

Yes this is one of the two obvious potential solutions for that particular project (the other being a hosting service) but transitioning from open source project to open source company can be challenging!

I mostly agree with you. However, I wrote it (and we released it) while I was working full time at a large Canadian cancer centre (and we really needed it!). I have stayed involved with it as a "hobby" for the last few years with

My personal feeling is that funding has got to be the biggest issue with open source sustainability. I'm the lead developer of an open source project[1] used in radiation therapy clinics around the world and I know I would be ecstatic

I don't know about CRT's but 10KeV is not particularly energetic. A CT unit may operate in the ~100-200kV range (so max energy of 200keV) while radiation therapy units operate in 6MV-18MV range (so electron accelerated up to 18x10

Not to mention the huge benefit of kids seeing their parents exercise. My 6 year old asked to go for a "run" with me last night, so we ran a ~500m loop together before I went off on my own. We both really enjoyed it :)

It's a bit tougher with kids but not much tbh (obviously it's harder if you're a single parent). You just have to do it in the morning before they get up, after they go to bed, or during lunch hour.
