I'm sure it will be able to be disabled but it's so frustrating seeing more advertising being baked into the browser. I really don't want web browsers to subtly (or not so subtly) influence what people are reading. edit: Lik

80% of my clients run the same "master" version while 20% have minor customization's specific to their organization. I don't want to end up maintaining 20 different applications, but being able to do minor modifications

The way you are thinking would be much cheaper than what I'm doing with the downside that clients data exists on the same server (but maybe they won't care) and the fact that a performance issue for one client can impact other cli

I run a very small SaaS and do this. Each customer gets its own isolated AWS account all organized under a root account for consolidated billing. It works great and has allowed me to develop client specific features where required (using g

I don't use the trackpoint but it's also never presented even the slightest issue to me when typing.

I've been running Ubuntu 18.04 on my X1 Carbon for the last couple of years and it has been delightful.

Yes! Part of learning a language, for me, is gaining muscle memory with my fingers and having to use a mouse is a turn off. Very cool site otherwise!

Interesting. If I could combine the flavor of a good Pink Lady with the crispness of a good Granny Smith I'd die a happy man.

Amazing. The mind boggles at how complex this is and the fact that humans have the tools to discover and understand the process. Thank you very much for sharing!

I tend to agree unfortunately. I've spent 10+ years working remotely and the past two weeks have been brutal productivity wise now that my wife is working from home and both kids are home too. As a self-employed individual, it's

Salary information on HN is skewed by Bay area engineers where $312k is not out of the realm of possibility for a senior developer afaik.

That line stuck out to me too. As someone on here said recently "revenue is easy if you're selling dollars for quarters".

Sure, lots of drugs impair your driving, but alcohol seems to be the one that people drive after using most frequently. This could be just selection bias though given that alcohol is the most widely used hard drug and easiest to measure&#

Alcohol is really weird. It's unquestionably a pretty hard drug and yet it's (ab)use is completely normalized in our culture. It's also a drug who's abuse regularly kills people other than those using it.

Even if it's true it's a huge difference. Very few people are going to a) think about this issue and b) know the right terms to google for a solution and/or c) dig around in their browser settings to find the setting.

I need to keep exactly two instances running (in separate AZs) and will never need to scale up beyond that...is it still worth investigating spot fleets in this case?

With regards to AWS RDS & EC2 multi-az deploys and cost...buy reserved instances! It is much cheaper if you can afford to pay up front for 1yr or 3 years at a time.

Heroku looks really expensive if you need e.g. a private network per client (compared to AWS VPC). Between $12k-$36k if I'm reading this correctly: https://elements.heroku.com/addons/heroku-private-spaces

It doesn't even have to be as extreme as abuse. For example, non-parents and parents alike should feel free to be critical of parents who allow their kids to misbehave in a restaurant.
