You know a 1000 people who will personally tell you if they have a disorder that’s to begin with hard to diagnose and to make worse also hotly debated as even existing at all? Given everything going against it, if two people actually have t

Its funny, this person writes a poorly proofread article (while actually expecting people to pay for it) and then puts nuggets with completely unsubstantiated judgement but still wants to weasel out some image of being logical and objective

I’ve found this HN comment to be the single best explanation of the purpose of Kafka for engineers (like me) who never truly appreciated why you’d want it in the first place: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35160555

Frowned upon? Maybe sure. Unpopular? US shooting stats say otherwise. The only thankful difference is we don’t have geniuses trying to plan these things.

Have you tried using excel or google sheets on an iPhone or android. It is perfectly serviceable. In fact on many days I get most of my work done through my iPhone, if I don’t have to _write_ code, just documents, review PRs and attend zoom

My PhD alma matter had a library until a year before I graduated and I found myself there once every few months just to browse and find a random Science or Nature issue from the 80s. It was a fascinating read for sure. Definitely much is lo

Update antitrust regulation for modern times and close loopholes; actually break up effective monopolies. Especially in the essential services sectors.

More antitrust regulation - have to increase competition. Of course this won’t happen immediately. If I were the president I’d have direly warned the deployment of the defense production act to commandeer basic supply companies and curb the

Yes but easier to navigate. It’s obviously the red queen hypothesis of a never ending game between marketers and users looking for unadulterated information.

I actually started going directly to the Reddit app and finding the relevant subreddit and searching within it - hope Reddit realizes the gold mine it’s sitting on but I doubt it.

What’s wrong? How is this worse than influencer culture? At its worst it’s as bad. But it actually can be better. There’s nothing wrong with everyone buying less crap they don’t need.

There is SOME secret sauce. The admins _do_ play a crucial role. The history plays a role. Everyone says this about reddit and Twitter and yet it's still not true that twitter has been replaced in spite of the shit show going on there.
