I remember the cost of RAM in the 80s and 90s. If I remember correctly my mom paid ~$1000 for 32mb of RAM in 94/95. Something or other like that. While they have spiked this year, the trend is towards more RAM for cheaper. https:&#x2F

I think right now AI is mostly providing a much better experience for using a computer for people that already have deep knowledge of how to use a computer. For example, no matter how many times I've tried to explain how to use it, my

Oh, I know, but the prices that I get on Amazon are definitely cheaper than what I can get from the real Wholefoods 500 meters away. It's absurdist.

Mostly I'm buying Amazon groceries because here in Boston if you don't have a car and access to Costco, wow are your local shops over-priced. Wholefoods, Star Market, and Trader Joes are all at least 25% more expensive.

In general I've been really happy to leverage Claude to quickly build software that only I use. It fits my needs exactly and I don't have to worry so much about how others will use it, if it is generalized enough, if the documenta

I think, from a business perspective, they just don't see us at all. We're such a small, inconsequential part of the market that building open, free hardware with code that we can update, change, or alter for our needs is just.. n

I also use Firefox on my mobile device. I have to admit: I'm not a huge fan of the interface. Super clunky.

Except now you can just install standard extensions in Firefox. I don't want a chrome version of something. I want an independent browser that isn't effectively some version of adware. I'll never understand why people don&#x2

For me, my life has gotten so stressful and awful, I just need to get away from my anxiety and the best way is through distraction. Music, podcasts, and audio books help me maintain some semblance of normalcy. I can't even fall asleep

I'll second this. I avoided React Native because I absolutely loathe using React in general (much prefer Vue/Nuxt or Svelte/SvelteKit). Flutter has been an absolute pleasure to build the mobile version of https://m

Ya, I didn't mean Linux itself (which I like) but that I'd have to run it on sub-par laptop hardware. I travel a lot and there's no getting around the fact that macbooks are incredibly good from a hardware perspective. Solid

I find Microsoft user hostile. I find that Apple is interested in selling me a tool that mostly gets out of my way, provides me with some pretty cool features, mostly respects my privacy, and isn't shoehorning bullshit AI into everythi

"Earning sick leave" is some dystopian bullshit. If you are sick, don't go into work. You don't need to earn it.

When I was a kid software that would "double your RAM" was a thing. I remember thinking it was awesome, and at the same time feeling a huge sense of doubt that you could do that.
