Soon-to-be grad student here. Could you expand a bit? Is there anything you recommend doing ahead of time to weed out some of these tarpits, or is the already mentioned heuristic the best we've got so far?

I'd thought of the money one, hadn't thought about the possible signaling of "weird" beliefs. The third point seems a little silly at first, but reflecting on my own musings on whether to go full Signal-only or not I gue

Care to expand? I have some gripes with them myself, but I haven't demanded enough of their stuff to find technical issues yet. My problems are of the "oscilloscope is pestering me about windows updates" and "service man

The comment I responded to made the statement that OAI behaved like the sea witch who literally stole someone's voice. That is not the case here, since Scarlett still has her voice and OAI only (allegedly?) copied it. Whether OAI viola

Yet another vote for Kagi. When I was on the free plan it felt like a secret weapon that I pulled out for tough searches. Happy to pay for it now. Now, they do have a similar AI summary feature, but it actually links the sources it used to

I'm a music person, when I'm approaching new (to me) music I'm highly focused on how the melodies, harmonies, rhythms, textures, etc. fit into a coherent narrative/whole and the lyrics don't factor in at all, though
