I play Descent I and II today, on period hardware. How do you hook up two joysticks and have them be used in the game?

I wrote Alexa skills for personal, household use, but it was hard to find use cases that audio was faster than scanning a list of things like others had mentioned. My wife and I are NASCAR fans so I did have a skill where you could just ask

This is basically the only video game I've ever played or play today. I took a 25 year hiatus playing, from 1996 to 2021 but I'm back at it now, playing on a period appropriate Windows 98 machine. I love the original Descent and D

Do they still get raises? My whole career I was a developer, it's what suited me best and it's what I wanted. A couple of times I considered going for tech lead or architect but those were parts of the job I didn't want to do

This isn't new. When I was laid off in 2012, I had a friend at a company with an open position but they were looking with someone with GWT (Google Web Toolkit) experience. Six weeks later they were still looking. You don't think a

I looked up 56K modem on amazon, here's some current use cases from reviews. The medical industry still relies on fax for some documents. This applies to some computer software as well and using email isn't allowed. So, to go alon

I just got one of these with a Quadra 650 I bought. It's good but it's bugging the hell out of me that the bumps are on the d and k keys vs. the more modern f and j.

Looking at that list 6 months of COBRA is short, really short. In this job-search environment your COBRA is going to run out well before you could find your next job. When I was laid off from Oracle in 2012 I got 18 months of COBRA. That so

I'm reading chapters in Coders At Work and thinking about who should be interviewed in a 2nd edition. Jose Valim should be at the top of this kind of list. His work on Elixir has been as profound as anyone in Coders.
