One should definetely consider the opportunity cost of taking matters into their own hands. However, I think the example is way over-the-top because of some reasons (most already stated by sibling comments): * Not sure how many programming

Don't think so, they may be referring to the fact that since the UBI is a fixed value, then the increase for the lower income percentiles is percent-wise higher w.r.t the current income.

Not if you assume a fairly free market (not many cartels, etc). If you could buy bread for $10, and now earn 50% more, a merchant could raise the price to $15 to try to grab the 'newly found money'. But they would be just raising

That's true, but most vary fluctuate wildly with respect to the USD, not in their purchasing power within their country of origin, even less so in the span of weeks or days. For example, if I was paid the equivalent of a 50 USD ride in

How does cash vary in value? If you have a $50 bill, you can expect to buy a very predictable amount of food (for example) next week, regardless of what happens. Not so much if you have 0.0521 BTC.

That's great to hear, I hope the best for the project! I meant 'scheduling' in the cluster management sense (which containers run in which nodes), though.

As far as I understand, this is 'only' a UI layer on top of Docker and Docker Swarm. So this doesn't tackle any of the problems which Kubernetes (or Docker Swarm, for that matter) would, like scheduling and service discovery.

To be fair, 'sequestros relâmpagos' (lightining kidnappings) were around long before biometric security in ATMs, and are still used today even with non-biometric security (PINs).

I believe 'they' in the sentence refers to the media. As in, info from Wikileaks suggests that "[the media] is in bed with the Clinton campaign".

The votes in the tested ballots are not counted in the election itself. A member of the public can secretly vote for their preferred candidate, and vote for an entirely different candidate in the auditing.

As a sibling comment mentioned, the mere potential for auditing increases the cost for a malicious actor to perform manipulations, since the chance of getting caught is higher, and the penalty for getting caught is potentially disastrous.

One method of avoiding fraud in electronic voting systems is double-voting. It goes as follows: - Wait until all electronic ballots are set up in their zones in election day. - Randomly (this can be even done in a public, audited draw) sele

I can only presume, but I believe they meant they graduated with a 'main' major (possibly something technical, like engineering or CS, since we're in HN), but also double majored (i.e. also majored) in music.

The impact of such an initiative may not be big, or even disruptive, but I'd say it at least adds cost to keep the impunity status up. Also, given a project like this has significant findings and gets picked up by traditional or social

Hello, and congrats on the project. Could you provide a brief overview as to how does one actually launch the satellite into space? Is there a company that does this, what kind of permits/certifications/etc are needed, etc?
