A single newspaper using patents to make sure their expression and opinions are the only one we get to hea? Thats not creepy at all. And this one message travels the world. For our standards, here in Holland, the app store policy representa

Where in the world do you get the idea, that Apples Walled garden has anything to do with quality? Its about one thing: extorting content producers, by limiting access to consumers. And they will eventually get into legal trouble. Its textb

Maybe i could phrase it like this. Your military are not free men. In a way, the US is the military of the free world. All of it: its media, its economics, its population. You guys (have to) live in a state of paranoia to keep that military

I made that statement without emperical evidence, since i consider it a logical implication. Consider credit ratings: a few tiny nations have the highest ratings. But their combined assets represent nothing compared to the states. The US is

That makes sense. One could even argue, that it is the prime freedom that 'powers' the US. (it could not be a superpower without) Although, personally, i consider the most "free" market, to be about more than tax levels and (lack of) labour

I was under the impression US networks are anything but free? I mean, guys like Viacom pay our cable companies for potential access to our eyeballs here in Holland. I heard they actually get paid by cable companies in the US. For jersey sho

You are right. Take the press freedom list, where you guys are at 47, and say Holland is at position 3. 44 positions difference is less than 142 ( the difference in ranking between the US and Russis ) Except rankings do not represent range.

I think its this constant denial, this lie, "the land of the free", that is the reason why things just dont improve in the states. From the red scare to the people-we-dont-like-are-now-called-terrorist. Why not just accept the fact that Rus

That does not make any sense. Yes, arguments should matter by their own merit, but why would we bother with a list of arguments curated by somebody that is inherently a fraud? With the same logic you can spent a full life carefully dismissi

Agreed. But the combined sillicon of the xbox, desktop, ps3, mediacenter and multiple laptops in my house, had a seriously high price attached, but using all that sillicon to do one task fast, isnt even an option. We need an open standard t

I think all the adoption regulation is completely bullshit, and likely against every nations constitution. Every one is allowed to have a baby. But, oh dear, if somebody wants to take care of a kid that has no parents. Personally, i dont th

Fair enough. It's a statement i can not prove. I don't think i'm wrong, but it's hard to argue about alternative history, right? It's all pure speculation. You are right about that.

Why would MS pay 3 billion dollar for Valve, if they can just abuse their position and disallow Steam on Win8, and then just steal the market. Which is exactly what they are doing, with the win8 store policy, metro sandbox, and pricing stra

Microsoft does not allow competition on their OS this time around. So, Steam is no longer allowed to compete. If there are no alternative, people may still hate it, but it will still be the killer feature.

They are not afraid of losing the competition, they are afraid of not being allowed to compete. Steam cant be on Metro, and the x86/classic-desktop will likely end up, only in the high end of the market. Just like Apple, the common win8 con
