Seriously -- every project I had the opportunity to work on during my teen years has formed the basis for so much of my later "real" career as a developer. Each experience has provided me with invaluable skills.

I use Apps for a personal account -- but there are often odd quirks when Google releases new products that make it slightly inconvenient. In retrospect, I think a better alternative would have been just setting up my domain's email as

I'm not too familiar with G-WAN, but there's many more factors than some benchmarks published by the author of G-WAN: 1) G-WAN is closed source. This means you're tied to their paid support for fixes and improvements. Web ser

I guess it depends what you are hiring for... If you are hiring for someone that will just "do the work" and not care what it is, then it seems like this is sound logic. However, if you're looking for someone who is creative and passionate

You could draw the photos in a SurfaceView with a "secure" flag (see http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/SurfaceV... ). This would prevent other apps from reading them out of the framebuffer, or even taking a screenshot of

From my experience interning twice at Google, I was very impressed by their standard for privacy and the protections they had put in place. They have teams dedicated to just researching ways to improve information security. Two projects I f

Waze is incredibly powerful if you're in a city with many users / high-density of cars. If Instagram can be worth $1B, I can certainly see Waze being worth at least as much. They have both users and awesome technology. Also, it's really har

In both LA and SF it's pretty much already like that in my experience; LA especially it's traveled by word of mouth - probably because driver's are so desperate to escape the traffic hell. However, I tend to favor Google Maps unless I'm ant

Well if they don't have your source code, why modify the algorithm, you can just use sha1(password + user_salt + site_secret) -- that site_secret just made the sha1 unique to your site. Of course, if they have your source code, then it does

You should do a "whois" lookup for the domain. The return code for a 'get' request on the domain has no bearing on its availability -- many parked domains do not even have DNS configured, let alone HTTP.

Actually - on Android, if you want to 'verify' that your app was not pirated (i.e. the paid-for APK was not just copied from one device to another), you have to call their licensing service: http://developer.android.com/google/play/licensi

Having a site that 50% links to the real onion, and otherwise is a real site branded like the Onion makes this very confusing for the user. It could be easily mistaken as the real Onion rather than being obviously a joke.
