I'd assume that is not symmetrical. But if you can run your own software, does that matter?

But then again: IIRC, Starlink is much more focused so power per unit square might be equivalent perhaps? It needs to get to space with a good enough SNR. The phasing of the array might also amplify the harmful effect, I'd say. But I&#

Given that Starlink user terminals can obviously also transmit data, maybe you can make a point to point connection between user terminals over hundreds of kilometers (given line of sight, so realistically much much less). Make a mesh netw

Fair point. Those different plugs are standardized though so adapters & travel plugs can be made. I wondered why this has not yet been standardized EU-wide, but of course the cost of doing so would be huge, since those plugs & outle

Currently working 99+% remote. In a next job, I'd like to have the flexibility to work from home whenever I want to but also have the option to meet colleagues IRL when we feel we need to, which should not be too often. I'd also

Get into embedded software. Grab an Arduino and make it do something fun/useful. Then some other microcontroller etc. So learn C or maybe Rust. I do robotics (I think manipulating stuff in the real world is more interesting than bits o

A heat pump takes heat produced elsewhere (eg in air outside). If that stops or it gets too cold, the heat pump stops working. It's not a perpetuum mobile because it needs an external energy source (eg. the sun to warm the air)

Sounds weird right? But it really is true: heat pumps pump heat, from one place to another, like a fridge and airco etc. Current heat pumps for home heating use can pump about 3-5 units of energy from outside to inside while the pump requir

There are pinning services, that do the pinning for a fee. But Those can also be DDosed I suppose. Can have multiple pinners of course but, but I doubt that makes a difference in the longer term.

About 20-25% of that solar energy not going into your shingles or whatever now goes through an copper cable. Still a lot of energy, and if not wired correctly, that is still a risk. The other 75% of solar energy heats up the panels themselv

Might have some truth to it. Human attention does not scale (ie. impact many other people) very well, and jobs where human attention is crucial, like in teaching & care, don't pay very well.

I'd value my kids being taught well, me taken care of if I'm in a hospital or old etc. No machine can compete with the human care. Machine can help, but not replace a human.

Why not provide a pre-set up machine? I would also not have them install eg Matlab or LabView themselves at the start of classes. But yes, I recognize the struggle. At my RoboCup team (TechUnited Eindhoven), the learning curve is also stee
