But Firefox is a for profit company worth millions? Why would you just donate it like that to a corporation? For the longest time I thought Mozilla was a non profit org but it doesn’t seem to be the case and they have millions in the bank?

It’s the same thing with php. I would say it’s probably because they are languages from the 90s, but then you have python and JavaScript which are from the same era too and people never question their relevance or “modernity”. All of these

It’s not naive. The value these ai chatbots provide to me is extremely high. I’ve been writing code for many years but one of the areas I wanted to improve was debugging, I’ve always printed variables but last month I decided to start using

Agreed. Not only do I think it’s worth it, i actually like that I can contribute. I’m getting so much good value for free I think it’s fair. It’s a win-win situation. The AIs get better and I get better answers.

Not as much as current llms. But the point is that AIs are supposed to be better than us, kind of how people built calculators to be more reliable than the average person and faster than anyone.

The great thing about this pipe operator is that it accepts any callable expression. I’m writing a library to make these array and string functions more expressive. For example, in php 8.5 you’ll be able to do: [1,1,2,3,2] |> unique And

Very interesting. I’ve been writing code for a while but if I’m honest I have no idea how code signing works. Any good resource on how it works especially in php?

Yes it’s really good (it’s not awkward at all) and it’s optional if you don’t want to use it. It’s truly the best of both worlds.

Except it’s literally the opposite. Chrome gets a lot of hate for being associated with google, but it’s always innovating and implementing the latest standards. Internet explorer, at least in it’s last years was the complete opposite.

What about git? Wasn’t git developed exactly as an alternative to a commercial product? Git is probably the most successful open source alternative software, so much that it completely obliterated the competition.

The beauty of git (everyone has a full copy of the repo). Although this being an installable browser targeted more towards end users I wouldn’t trust a repo from anyone other than the official maintainers.
