I'll concede they're accepted patterns, I just don't find they add much value since there's a lot of information flying around the screen at the same time. If the change in values are important enough to animate, steps w

Respectfully, these animations are more gratuitous than beautiful. Animations are meant to add to the information and demonstrate relationships over time and place. For the Simple bar charts, the animations should only show growth and decay

Sounds like you may want to take a sabbatical, which usually lasts 1-12 months and can be flexible. I suggest making it part of your acquisition arrangements. Many professionals need a timeout to reset. Often they return to their current &#

I have no issue adblocking Twitter since they use deceptive ads. It used to be ads had to be clearly labelled as not to confuse with regular content. Twitter buries their "promoted" label at the bottom in light grey text, so you o

Because entire industries have built themselves around MacOS. If industries like video and graphic design (and possibly even app development?) are forced to switch to Windows to maintain pro-level capabilities, what's going to motivate

The app still has to reside on a box somewhere. Centralizing it in the cloud is a little absurd since only one user (the editor) would use it. Depending on the studio, content is centralized, but for smaller studios, cloud-based storage is

But it's not necessarily indiscriminate. Many of these are sites that want submissions. Even Hacker News is OK if you're doing something relevant to the audience. As an example: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id

There's a few different levels to those forms of UI design. On one end is the skeumorphic approach with interfaces that directly resemble audio hardware. At the other end is total flexibility only achieved using path markers / ban

I must disagree. Developers / data people want the fastest, most immediate response to data. But for the general population, animations bring content to life, making the experience fun and enchanting. The key is knowing how much and ho

That's simply not true. You're talking about "intrusive animation" which is the byproduct of poor design and/or implementation. As an extreme example of UI animation, here's Persona 5: https://youtu.

FWIW - designers are facing the other way - to meeting and exceeding client expectations. In many cases it's not about what can be built, but what could be. It's not great for devs and most of their best stuff gets tossed when it

The irony is that GitS has done massively well with updating the premise and finding new plots that leverage the society and technology of the era. Some folks didn't like the Arise OVA - I loved them, especially the 5.1 opening credits
