There's also memory. I remember when driving at night 35 years ago I saw a lot more insects in my headlights than I see these days. The difference is very noticeable. There definitely more to it than aerodynamics.

I re-read your responses multiple times, and it seems you are advocating for pushing people out of high-paying jobs in case they display morally reprehensible behavior, for example racism? If you are, I can only repeat what I said earlier

I see two problems with your response: 1. Are felons entitled to have jobs? To which my response would be: are you entitled to decide? 2. We have existing ethical standards Where my response would be: who is 'we'? Do you think

I teach in college. In my opinion physical presence beats online teaching hands down for all but a few use cases. In my experience the last three months a minority of students thrive by online teaching, another (slightly bigger) minority s

As someone from the Netherlands I can say there's a non-zero chance that a motorist has a gun. It's smaller than the US, but it's not zero. Still our cops carry guns. In the US the chances are way, way higher. I can understa

I get your point, but so far science has been a huge net positive: - electricity (cellphone towers, refrigerators) - food technology (producing food efficiently) - medicine (vaccines, hospitals) - hygiene (sewer system, cl

I'm afraid you're not painting a correct picture here. There are climate sceptics (they call themselves realists) that used to work for the IPCC. There are established professors among them (no not psychologists, geologists). Plea

There is no question that the advancement of science has been good for humanity as a whole. Using math to improve the effectiveness of the police is a good thing. This effort - however well intended maybe - would throw out the baby with th
