I was hoping to learn why blue was chosen as the background color for that screen. This article doesn't mention that. Does anyone know why blue was used?

Another sample size of 1 (so I guess that makes us a sample size of 2): I had eczema from 6 months old until 18 years old, and asthma from 13 years old to 18 years old. The asthma was bad enough that walking up a flight of stairs winded me.

I grew up sleeping on the floor, and I was home schooled (through high school). As a kid, I had a premade story ready-to-go if a stranger asked why I wasn't in school: "I have a dentist appointment today." I'll be home s

I have a baby girl turning 1 in a few weeks and my wife and I opted to only use glass bottles for her. More scary, however, is all the stuff they put in everything else. For example, the fire retardant chemicals they use in manufacturing th

I work on open source software with two other developers and our business makes enough to pay for three full-time salaries (they're low-end software developer salaries, but we all live comfortably in the USA and Mexico). We sell two Wo

I ran into that IE bug a few years ago while working on some PHP code. For those curious what that bug might look like, I did a quick writeup of my findings [1] and posted the solution that I used to work around IE's bad behavior. [1]

This speaks to how useful email is as a communications medium on the Internet and it's likely one reason why, despite all the new modes of communication, it's still a widely used standard: people from different cultures all around

No. The date matters. A lot. When I open a paper book or a blog post, the first thing I want to know is, "When was this published?" That immediately gives me context as to the state of the world when this was written. This is a

It's about recognizing differences in appearance based on association with others of the same species. If I've never looked in a mirror but I know what my mothers face looks like, I don't need to have ever seen my own face to

I just use Cmd+H to hide windows instead of minimizing, since hiding effectively does exactly what I want (get the window out of my sight, but leave the app running) and then I can easily Cmd+Tab back to it. I only recently found a good use

Check out iTerm2. Full-screen iTerm2 doesn't switch to a different desktop and tabbing to another app is instantaneous.

Being able to save and restore the window arrangement is also awesome. I keep iTerm2 in full-screen mode and I have it split into 4 terminals. If I need to restart iTerm2, I simply choose Window -> Restore Window Arrangement and my split

Case-insensitive auto-completion: brilliant! To set this up, add `set completion-ignore-case on` to your `~/.inputrc` file (create it if it doesn't exist).

No, case-insensitive auto-completion doesn't work by default on OS X. For example, `cd /appli <tab>` does nothing by default (it's not finding `/Applications/`) even though my disk is formatted case-insensitiv
