Not GPT-4o, their own models that power some (most?) of the “Apple Intelligence” stuff.

Apple said they’re using their own silicon for training. Edit: unless I misunderstood and they meant only inference.

Which is only a subset of requests Apple devices will serve and only with explicit user permission. That’s going to shrink over time as Apple continue to advance their own models and silicon.

Didn’t Apple say they’re using their own hardware for serving some of the AI workloads? They dubbed it ‘Private Cloud Compute’. Not sure how much of a vote of confidence it is for Nvidia.

I own a Model 3 and have used FSD v12.3.x as recently as a month ago. I've also taken several Waymo rides in that time. I can confidently say it's not even in the same league as Waymo.

I don’t know about that. Cruise tried to move too quickly in an attempt to catch up to Waymo and accumulated a ton of much publicized issues in SF. Constant stalling in intersections, involved in a few collisions, etc. CA DMV clearly noted

For all the hype LLMs and chatbots get in this day and age, Waymo has an actual AI product out in the real world in a safety critical setting and is flying completely under the radar. It doesn’t help that they go about their work quietly wi

Not everyone records themselves using FSD like YouTubers do. So you’re not seeing drives where it screws up. What’s good enough for FSD is being able to do it without a driver present like Waymo does. Their crowdsourced reliability data in

The reasons to think it’s actually true is because: 1. Only companies who have LiDAR in their stack have shown fully autonomous driving i.e. driverless. 2. Better 3D scene construction, which LiDAR, unquestionably provides permeates as an a

I don’t think it’s only AI influencers that do this. I’ve noticed people use lowercase as some sort of power move. Like they’re so busy and important they don’t care about conventions.

Then I’m afraid you’re unclear because the cities Waymo operates in all have different characteristics and don’t have “similar style of roads”. Driving in SF is very different from driving in Phoenix.

Right, so what you really mean is urban vs highway driving. In self driving, urban driving is considered much more challenging precisely because of the characteristics you listed. That's why you see Waymo only now dipping into highway

In my opinion, this is all a massive gamble by Musk to pivot Tesla to an AI-first tech company. Except that Tesla cannot really do AI well and don't have the resources or talent the likes of Google, Meta, OpenAI, etc. does to do novel
