It is clearly labeled "level 2" so calling that "autonomy" is misleading.

When Bernays brought the propaganda techniques of Hitler into the world of US commerce, he invented the term "public relations" to avoid the negative associations with Nazi Germany.

It depends. For quick specific actions it is a proper method to make people feel bad. Examples: "Fire! Get out!" Or "Hot September! Sign petition here!" However, if you want people to find creative solutions to complex p

A different angle I sometimes see is Unhappy -> Ambition -> Success. However, these types of people might not be happy in the end. For example, I remember Elon Musk saying "you wouldn't want my life."

It varies for me. If I'm only mildly interested, the comments often provide a summary and then I decide if I RTFA. Certain titles or domains are insta-RTFA without looking at the comments. Sometimes it is nice to know the controversial

You seem to be one of the rare people who used both, Brazil and monorepo. Could you elaborate? What did you realize when the lightbulb clicked? What do you miss outside of Amazon? How can Brazil be misused?

Yes, I use an SSD. Our next try is probably to rely more on Conan and Artifactory to download binary artifacts. In theory, that could result in similar behavior to Bazel cloud builds though not as integrated and granular.

Yes. Shallow clones and submodules do not go well together though: For shallow clones, git is setup to not track all remote branches. This can result in an error message when the submodule has not fetched the commit you want to switch to.

I assume to some degree our Bitbucket server is slow. Not sure if Bitbucket is the culprit or our IT. One the other hand, git-status is also slow like 30 seconds. That is something I rather attribute to Windows. Doing the same inside WSL is

I work in a project with 50 engineers. Our git repo is 2GB plus 5GB of submodules. Git is painfully slow and I would imagine with more engineers it would become unusable. For example, git-fetch takes at least a minute. To some degree we are

I don't believe git is a good tool if you have more than 50 developers. It doesn't scale well enough. Yes, i know that Microsoft made it work somehow but I'm not sure if i would like to replicate that. Even with shallow clone

Is it really? In the startup world you don't "switch projects" every 18 months. Instead you pivot to a different business plan or start a new company. Grow headcount faster than baseline applies as well.

It is depressing that people are happy to just throw anecdotal evidence around without even defining what metric they multiply by 10x or 100x. There is some literature on it. For example, this blog post [0] contains some references. I have
