For a 1% return? Hardly worth it. As for the app, I don't want my phone polluted with even more crap. If I had a corporate loyalty app for every shop I wanted to go in, I'd have a hundred apps, a hundred data collection problems a

I certainly wouldn't install an app to go shopping at a specific store to obtain specific advantages. No company deserves loyalty through a scheme like this. Only through decent customer service and reasonable pricing. As for shopping

That's the impression they want to give you. The non-clubcard prices are significantly higher than Waitrose, Asda and Sainsburys.

Waitrose is considerably cheaper than Tesco without a clubcard.

I decided fuck 'em and went to Asda instead.

Perhaps they can stop ripping off their customers as well? They have introduced a new clubcard pricing system which means you are penalised heavily for not having one. To have one you have to opt into data collection. We're not talking

It doesn’t though. I just did a cost projection on our estate and hiring two engineers to look after it on bare metal VMs is 30% cheaper than using the managed service. Plus it doesn’t require a lot of maintenance so we can use those guys o

I’m deploying it (prom, alertmanager, pushgateway, grafana) on native hardware via ansible and it’s not difficult. Not Loki (yet). It’s all just go binaries you fire up with systemd with a single config file. I find it harder to deploy reli

Oh great. One more reason I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight. Other people’s automation scares me. I’m sure mine scares other people as well.

I'm avoiding brew/docker myself on my main desktop as I've screwed it up a couple of times doing that before. Thus I fire up a t2.small in AWS to test docker images on. My local box is VSCode, Terraform, aws cli, Go, Python e

Yep. But these days for anything else, I just fire up a cloud VM and kill it when it's done. I spent less on that than the 3900X and RAM would have cost me in 5 years. My main daily driver machine and dev box is now the absolute ass en

Realistically about an hour a day of truly productive work. The rest is eaten up with unproductive zoom meetings (I'm on one now as I post this), dealing with development tooling falling over and waiting for things. Terrible efficiency

Just generally they spent the last 10 years cramming so much crap into the outlook desktop client that it’s horrible to use. The web client is better than the desktop one now. Rest of office is pretty good. Do not worry about this. It works

For me it’s usually complaining about what the fuck shit they have done to outlook. It’s like a train in Mumbai at rush hour these days.

They’ve basically found a way to steal what’s left in the account. That’s all this is. There’s probably tens of thousands of accounts that people got locked out of or abandoned with money in and this lets them steal it.

Yes. Plenty. Also not many people pay $100. There’s a thriving second hand market for much less. When the TI83 was the calculator I’d actually buy 100 or so for low price at start of summer (large surplus), spend two weeks clean and refur
