Agree. Personal rapid transit system might work but cars, nope!

Agreed. But I think we should go back to Gopher for content and the old wild west style Internet which wasn't consolidated into silos like now. It's cheap, efficient, understandable and obtuse enough not to be able to leverage p

If it’s like telemetry it’ll be double down and silence the critics.

Yes on both counts. The latter is a travesty and a very real problem.

This made me laugh. I get shocked looks of disbelief and claims that AWS are basically gods when I tell people that we're losing packets in eu-west-1 occasionally. The only thing we gained is not having to argue with one vendor when th

I've had a couple of run-on this front. I spent a couple of years photographing industrial landscapes in London. Unless you are trespassing then you can tell them to hop it. Being arrested wrongfully is quite profitable for the receive

I just say 5% less than what I want. Are they really going to sue me? Nope!

On principle, no. I'll stick with my 32" 1080p POS dumb Samsung before I entertain anything like that.

I would guy a product that did that in a second. I really want a 4k television for my HTPC but I can't find one that isn't some crapware ridden pile of shit.

It was scene setting. While you can do it, there’s a lot of terrible terrible nasty hellish PHP out there. The whole thing is a foot gun. I spent 5 years fixing various messes written in it for people as a contractor in the mid 00’s.

That kind of thinking is compartmentalised into oblivion.

That one solicited a decent size guffaw. What a ridiculous campaign it was.

Yes they are having difficulty. No one wants to be paid that terribly to work for a place that owns a big chunk of your life, leaves you somewhat less employable afterwards and does nothing even slightly sexy.

I think I'd probably spend most of the meeting trying to find out their real names.

That is how Amazon is growing. I fear it. They have managed to push into lots of vertical markets and even critical infrastructure now.

What's more worrying is people I speak to regularly now don't even know who he is. And if they do it's because of the toe cheese incident. We're obsessed with celebrity trivia and judge the person rather than the message

Completely a drama. I was reading 200gb or so xml files about 15 years ago in Java using their event driven xml parser, the name of which I forget. It didn’t use a whole lot of RAM or require any thought. Basically buffer 100 rows into RAM,
