I watched the whole thing and didn’t notice anything off, other than soup moving a bit weirdly. But if no one had told me it was AI, then I’d think that’s just the animation style. Then I read the list of tells and oh ok, now I can see a li

Every layer in the org chart gradually got replaced by people who single-mindedly optimized for their own careers. How do you optimize your career at data-driven, results-oriented, “measurable performance goals” big tech? You make revenue g

For example, Oracle does evil to its customers and partners and competitors. But Google does evil to every human who uses their products. In my book that’s much worse.

I know HN hates being compared to that social media website which must not be named, but just look at this.

For fun, I took that image and put it into a few models and asked it "what is wrong with this genAI image?" Grok fast came up with a lot of minor quibbles and missed the issue. Grok expert touched on it with a "Limbs/ana

That backlash was nearly entirely on that other social media website that HN hates being compared to. And yet again, not representative of actual people. The xbox part may be true. I’d be extremely surprised if any PlayStation users in volu

What you said is a more substantive argument than the lazy “Nazi salute, end of story” that somehow doesn’t get shot down enough here.

The fact that people like you are still pushing the subjective salute thing as incontrovertible fact makes it hard to find any common ground. Serious people in the media, even the ones heavily biased against Elon, don’t harp on it the way o

archive.is is caching error messages for this page. Is WSJ now immune to paywall bypasses? As fun as it is to have discussions entirely based on headlines, it threatens to turn HN into yet another low information high emotion discussion for

I’ve given up trying to convince people about any of this. You will be accused of some -isms at best. So I just quietly use demographic information to pick where to live and where to send my kids to school. And try to be sympathetic when my

I like everything about the Moonlander (ortholinear, split) except for the lack of F keys. From what I can tell, Kinesis is the other side of the "ortholinear or F keys" tradeoff, holding most everything else constant.

I use a Moonlander and regret it entirely for this reason. It would be perfect if it just had that extra row of F keys. I know there are a million ways to compensate for it but they all involve tradeoffs that I don't want to make. I st

I got banned from my local subreddit for saying “as an Asian we actually tend to like cars from this brand” in a politically charged post about a certain car brand. Didn’t seem very spicy to me. “If you support this brand you’re supporting

It's not so bad here in Orange County. City/county politics are more balanced and provide pretty good counterweights to the state party. It's much better than the Seattle area, which truly has uniparty rule and it shows. Peop

No one cares more about sun protection than Asian women living in SoCal. My wife and her friends usually use Korean or Japanese brands that they buy here in the states. Seems to work just fine.
