That explains a lot. I have a bottle of 5mg pills and I found out I could still feel the effects when I would take a tiny “nibble” of the pill. So over the course of a bad sleep week I would slowly consume a single pill. This bottle is a li

I've been a happy Microsoft user for quite a few years because their untrustworthiness was mostly focused on other companies, and they generally had good products. But lately they have started ruining their OS in the name of short-term

I love my home assistant installation and didn’t even know about Tasmota/Cloudfree. Thanks for sharing, this is the next logical step to fully detaching from subscriptions/accounts.

Really interesting the almost universally negative replies to this. From the class of people who gush about whatever latest shiny device Apple put out. Is it jealousy? Or politically motivated?

Only half joking but I’m getting one for the bulletproof windows and body. I have to commute to Seattle, where very recently a pregnant woman was randomly executed by a gunman in broad daylight while sitting in her car waiting at a red ligh

I vote mostly Republican (when there is a sane one on the ballot) but the Cybertruck will be my first truck. It’s the first electric truck made by a proven EV manufacturer. If you’re being serious, it would boggle my mind that people pick v

The moment you own both a 3 and one of those enormous SUV-like baby strollers, you get rid of the 3 and get something else. A Y if you liked your 3, or probably a van if not.

What are you getting next? I’m looking for a large electric SUV/van/truck to complement my model Y (wife keeps taking it instead of using her own car) but the only ones I like are Teslas and Rivians.

I've been in the Seattle area since graduating and hung out with people in both the tech industry and in aerospace (Boeing, etc.). Everyone who wanted a house had one within 5 years of starting work. They were smaller, older houses in

What's "yikes" about that? I'm a parent and I'd love it for a principal to take a hardline stance like that on distractions. Kids (and adults for that matter) can't be trusted to use phones responsibly.

Mine too. It also thinks my partially raised garage door is a truck, when the door is about 3 ft in the air, where a truck's tailgate would be. When actually on the road it's decent at identifying things without false positives.

I got that thunderbolt dock for my work MacBook, and now that I own a steam deck I wish I had gotten a USBC hub instead. The dock is great, just doesn’t work with the steam deck, so I can’t swap devices quickly.

I agree. I'd prefer to have public schools serve everyone well, whether they are academically strong or not. And being a public school kid myself, I'd rather private schools not be something that the rich send their kids to to get

I understand that, but we can't change the fact that our society doesn't seem to. So we look on the bright side: at least we have the privilege to ensure our kids can still excel. If this nonsense comes to our school district, ev

Yeah the rewards of hard work and delayed gratification are becoming more and more marginal as time goes on, but right now it’s still worth it to excel and hopefully that stays true for a while.

Hilarious/sad conversation I had with my wife about this. Me: You seem to not care at all about public schools dumbing down the curriculum. It could happen here too. Wife: Why should I? This doesn’t affect us. We’ve already decided our

We don’t have a homogenous population of Asians, that’s why. I was an Asian in American public school and was 2 years behind what you described, and that was going as fast as possible within the system.
