I sometimes wonder if people just slack off if working remote. Honestly, it‘s the only real „problem“ I can imagine. And wouldn‘t there be better options to fix that than having everyone come to the office? Large screens, whiteboards, audio

Let‘s assume for a moment that AI will replace humans _in the economy_. Then what? Well, either it fully does that, then it won‘t matter. We will allocate resources in a different way or there will be a revolution. Or it does only partially

I think you‘re missing a few things: 1. Not everything is stuff. You can book a flight for 5000 Euros to the other end of the world. 2. Not all prices are the best. You might overpay significantly for said flight in order to not have to thi

It‘s unlikely because decades of experiments suggest so and also because it‘s unlikely that animals with a very basic neural system can have a sense of self. The burden of proof is on those claiming differently.

I would say, subjectively yes, but these insects are incapable of worrying about that. Furthermore, biologically not quite, because they can reproduce with 100% their original DNA afterwards (unlike offspring which has less and less overlap

First of all, Europe (which is in many respects not a single entity) has extensively acknowledged injustices done to Roma. Second, no, there are not relevant historical ties there anymore. Otherwise you could argue that Italy has ties to Eg

That‘s an arbitrary distinction, since encryption uses a key just like „code“ uses a dictionary. In a one time pad where your key is long, how is it different from a dictionary? And in a trivial cipher the key may still encode a dictionary.

Even after adjusting this statement three times it‘s still wrong. Certificate transparency has severely limited what CAs can do without being found out.

And it‘s expensive, especially the API. Everyone knows the scalability of plain ChatGPT and it‘s there as a fallback - and so we tend to forget that and kind of also attribute it to GPT-4. But it will take two orders of magnitude of perform

It seems obvious now, but it was different. And not worse than most contemporary architecture either. But it would be nice to return to a more human, beautiful and sustainable style, true.

At the time of Vietnam there was some sort of competition of different systems, now it‘s just plain old far right tyranny vs. the democratic world. The Domino theory was more about the alternative perhaps proving itself viable so it was to

People said the same 20 years ago and it‘s not going to happen for many reasons. - The language of science remains English. - Only a small part of the Asian countries has languages with a similar structure. Meanwhile, North and South Americ

> Does AI "subvert" "promoting the Progress of Science and useful Arts"? Absolutely, it may. That was my point that this is exactly to be observed and decided.

More important than an opinion of a court is the opinion of lawmakers. After all, copyright laws have a purpose and AI subverts that purpose. Lawmakers will have to decide whether the benefit of AI to society is greater than the benefit of

Why would the battery die? This is not a smartphone. For LFP batteries I expect multiple decades of use, even the other Tesla batteries are holding up with only around 5-15% of capacity loss after a decade.
