I was trying to roast this guy because I figured a burn-in test should accomplish the same thing he’s doing. But no... I had to ask the great oracle, GPT (General Purpose Truth), and it told me the guy is actually doing something worthwhile

thats why I said I only miss the option to verify my vote history. I dont need to know how my vote got there, I just need to verify it at the place that sums all votes.

It is false your affirmation that they are not audited by public organizations. Entities can register to see the source code in a controlled room. In 2024 for example the party União Brasil checked the code. In 2025 during the official audi

In Brazil we have been using electronic voting for decades. See, here we always had issues with corruption, and thats why we had to implement it. The thing is that we always had major issues at the city level elections, because many small g

Yes, you would eventually be capable of sharing GPU power, devices, audio, anything. Imagine all your machine´s idle power available to others. Right now your GPU is barely being used.

This really reminds me of what Plan 9 was aiming for — breaking out of the 'box' by making everything a file, using per-process namespaces, and cleanly exposing system and network resources with proper permissions. It had that sam

Maybe now you should try to do an app to forget files. Mindfileness.

Its early to make assumptions, but the weather report confirms the theory, and at the plane previous flight, from the inverse route, a passenger filmed ice at the wings.

For this specific scenario, a simple custom format, one line per config, properties separated by commas and key from value by equals. In C# you can populate a dictionary with readallines/linq in one line of code. Need hierarchy/tr

To me, the biggest indicator that all the links being posted here about Git submodule systems come from people who don't know what they're doing is the fact that all of them (vdm, pasta, peru, git-aggregator, etc.) are using YAML

Yep. Good old days… I also had a bbs with a friend in Brazil, we would make very expensive international calls twice a month to other bbs to download the news. Ah… and of course there was a group called applemaniacos that would send apple I

I agree with most answers. Therapy is good. Tried any sports? I am almost 50 and started learning kitesurf... it is frightning, but I know I need to expose myself to some level of controlled risk, I was always too cautious, never did sports

I guess the real issue here is the "work-life balance is stellar". Humans just cant stand being in a comfortable position for a long time. People struggling in their jobs/life will say:"what are you talking about??? I wo

good point... but I was not talking about OOP, I was talking about dynamic typing versus static typing. :)

can we have a not-messy-not-elegant language? :)

by quilombodigital 4y ago
I humbly accept the critic. :)

by quilombodigital 4y ago
The examples you gave are not language features, are frameworks/libraries... not the discussion. (the only exception I can see is the "logging API", but this is debatable)

yep, agree with you. I become more aware of this when I worked some years in a huge ruby project. Everything was allowed, and with tons of DSLs you dont know anymore what is happening.

I agree Scala is very powerful. I said messy because it is "too powerful", added too many features. I think this is their mistake. I respect the community, but can show my opinion as you can about java.

by quilombodigital 4y ago
My problem is with the "just adds"... Scala made this mistake, and ended with many different ways to do the same task. It is a powerful language, but I believe languages must have only one (or two) concise way to to things.

This is true.... Old guys know nothing... for years we told the javascript guys the mess they were doing, and voila, all dynamic languages suddenly started to convert into statically-typed, and at the end, they have this webassembly, that r

This is the point, you dont consider the instanceof approach, is just wrong. You already know your types in advance.
