I've never seen it done that way -- just used as a pre-screen for an onsite that is the typical code-on-a-whiteboard scenario. Had one place that used an at home test + a one hour task in the office on a laptop they provided + several

Doesn't sound that easy to me. You'd need an efficient way to forget all those memoized values on each program edit, and every byte of program storage counted when memory size was a whopping 4K.

I think society was a little different then. People had a shot at changing their life and switching to legitimate work. That's not really possible any more; once you have a felony arrest, you've got a black mark against you. Low

The point is the criminal organizations aren't going to simply disappear if/when drugs are legalized. They're going to pivot to some other illegal activity to preserve their livelihood. Perhaps more conventional crimes like

You need a reasonable financial buffer (or at least good credit) to be a homeowner to cover the large expenses that invariably come up. If you're not handy and need to call professionals for every minor repair--well, though service ca

Because many people don't want the responsibilities of home ownership, or to be exposed to the risk. Also makes relocation a lot more complicated. There's no particular guarantee that land value will continue to increase either,

Who would you suggest should own the property instead of landlords? Should all housing be state owned instead? Without bail outs we have the potential to see many more properties bought by the largest companies, who are often far harsher o

I find this is a strong reason to build test cases as early as possible in the dev process. I find myself removing 'nice to have, but not strictly necessary' options all the time when I realize they'll double or worse the nu

Sure, but that adds a lot of CPU load server side (and cloud CPU is still fairly expensive), adds latency for the extra buffering, decoding, and re-encoding, and limits the display options available client-side.

The server is receiving 1 stream per participant, and forwarding that stream to all other participants. So for say 10 participants, that's 10 inbound and 90 outbound. If you switched to p2p instead, then each participant would need to

A properly built road should last much longer than that. My street in a small town in MA hasn't been paved in over 10 years and is still fine. (The town does periodically seal cracks but that's a pretty cheap maintenance item.)

As an outsider, it seems like regulation led them (or the airlines really) down a path of avoiding retraining at all costs, while it seems plausible that some sort of cost effective retraining for a plane that still was substantially simila

They are that cheap... e.g. Microcenter has models in the $15-$25 range. They're pretty much at the too cheap to not work level as they can't afford to develop complex, bloated features at that price point.
