School shootings are real, and are legitimately frightening. But I suggest that active shooter drills do more harm than good. And I suggest that it's a mistake for parents to legitimize active shooter drills by giving their kids specia

Active shooter drills are a tragic case of adults failing to deal with adult problems. We scare children because we're scared, and somehow imagine that sharing that fear with them is helpful to anything but our own selfish fear of fear

I think all of those downsides may be frustrating in the moment, but will turn out to be much less important, when viewed in the longer term.

This is a terrifying way to raise children. I.e. it sounds like you've terrified your children. Why would you do that?

This rings true to me. You can infer (with various degrees of fidelity) a lot about people by their communication patterns: age, gender, education, hobbies, reading habits, news sources, place of origin or residence. And obviously, socializ

I am not aware of any mode of watching Netflix that is constrained to 15 minutes. "Trying" to sleep is also doomed to failure, of course. Personally, what works best for me is modeling solutions to issues in projects (work or othe

But there is no basis in law for any of these objections. "Wasting peoples' time" is a byproduct of every activity in a less-than-perfectly-efficient economy (which is all of them, obviously). "Wasting lots of peoples&#x

This is a good point. I'd argue well more than 80% though. Time signatures, instrumentation, arrangements, chord progressions, etc are the base gruel that forms the core of almost all (western/popular) music. The "new" c

The "ring me even if I'm not at home" feature has some value also. And for people who do not live in high-crime areas, but might want the other features of a Ring camera, the value distribution would necessarily be different.

I probably agree with your premise (it's not clear), but: Scenario 1 (QR code) puts 100% of the infrastructure on the client (visitor) side, and scenario 2 (Nest, Ring, etc) puts 100% of the infrastructure on the server (resident) side
