I think all of those downsides may be frustrating in the moment, but will turn out to be much less important, when viewed in the longer term.

  I honestly think that parents enjoy depriving their kids of experiences because it's how they were raised. Big deal they are staying up late. Let them sleep in on the weekend to make up the difference.
