I don’t want to collaborate with anyone. I don’t want that ‘functionality’ to get in my way. I don’t want to be driven to despair in an attempt to save a document to my local storage rather than to the OneDrive or whatever it’s called by de

I’m 41 and I’m utterly baffled by my 24 year-old SO’s interest in binging an apparently infinite litany of TV shows from streaming services. I’ve watched the first six seasons of Game Of Thrones, the first season of Dark, all of The Expanse

“Minimum number of constructs you need to have complete control over your hardware” is a bit of a slippery slope when it’s known that one-instruction computers are Turing Complete (“subtract and branch if negative” being one I recall). Ther

I’m really looking forward to what a Star Trek ‘transtator’ turns out to be. And “isolinear circuitry” is going to look awesome when illuminated by LEDs in gamer rigs.

As a teenager I avidly read some Microsoft book on the impending Windows 95 release (I didn’t have the “Chicago Betas”. I remember reading that book cover to cover. I remember that it depicted checkboxes are rhomboid-shaped, which didn’t ac

You’re probably right. As an industry IT seems to reinvent the wheel on a cyclical basis, and every time it seems we get a lower-resolution polygon (combined with a drop in performance due to the ever-growing number of abstractions).

It’s got to the point where if I find myself in cordial debate with so,embody whose thesis I disagree with (in 280 character chunks at the time) I thank them for the debate. And that’s the thing: if you go into a conversation only to ‘right

A person in a position of power over her perceives their options as being a dichotomy between ensuring she can continue to produce output or terminating her contract. This is the crux of the matter that I am not misunderstanding. My “inappr

Try to convince her to move. Cancel her workload and deadlines and tell her you’ll keep paying her regardless of her output. That’s the compassionate thing to do. Anything else is tantamount to trying to squeeze blood out of a stone.

“Taking advantage of forrest fires” is not a long-term strategy for survival unless you also evolve a penchant for arson, and then you’d run out of forests pretty quickly once your local population rises even slightly.

Nitpick about “sending messages to employees”: he’s no longer CEO and therefore ‘employees’ are not beholden to execute his commands. Depending on the jurisdiction, this is somewhere between “freedom of expression” and “witness tampering”,
