Hah, same here! The SVX-728 was somewhat infuriating in that it was slightly non-standard MSX if I recall correctly; this would mostly show up in (copied) games, which I then had to disassemble and tweak. I think it had to do with the memor

Won't use it for the simple reason it's much harder to type (for me) than ls, and doesn't seem to offer anything I can't find in ls right now.

You could get close to inkjets and early laser printers with Signum! on the ST and 24-pin dot matrix printer. It used custom bitmapped fonts and very fine control of the pins to generate amazing output. It was very slow in the highest quali

Sometimes I wonder too, but your list of exceptions already points to why it's not likely to be true. The datasets that "regular" Excel users mangle easily can consume many megabytes. Write a document, add some graphics... re

Actually SwiftKey in multiple languages helps me write in the ones I am less fluent in, due to its autocorrect. I agree it can be annoying too... you have to be careful with activating languages, and I switch off the languages I am unlikely

Yes, absolutely! This may be nostalgia talking, but I loved (most) of my Blackberry devices. Certainly in the earlier part of its ascent, through to its heyday, it was indisputably the best at what it was supposed to do: emails (and messagi

I think restraint and common sense are key here (once you're comfortable typing the non-ASCII characters). In parts of my code it's much more intuitive to use \Omega or \Sigma and \mu than giving them ASCII names, and others looki

I strongly agree with that, coming from Matlab to both Python and Julia. While I enjoy some of the similarities between Julia and Matlab, it does take some learning and effort to write proper code in another language. Array indexing with sq

It's probably the single most blatant gaming-related fundraiser scam I've personally come across... but they got YC backing. It'll take quite a bit to beat Star Citizen. I don't understand the YC backing either though.
