Ouch, this is terrible. I have been happy with my Synology NASes over the last decade or so, and their tech support, but this really, really, rubs me the wrong way. I am not affected by this act of deliberate vandalism, but Synology's reputation has been very seriously tarnished; this is close to the worst possible thing you can do as a storage provider. I cannot in good conscience recommend their products after this. Very disappointing.
- izacus 5y agoMaybe you should actually read about what happened before throwing judgements? You had to specifically workaround using another Synology model to get into this state.
- callmeal 5y agoThat's not true. I have a j and remember seeing the btrfs option when creating my volume. I remember it because I was not familiar with that file system and took the time to read up on it. Decided on ext4 anyway because it's what I was knew. So at least from my POV, the UI did allow creating a volume and let you get into this state.
